摘要
Netball is a fast passing sport born from basketball, played by teams of seven on a court divided into thirds. Every position is confined to set areas, running or dribbling with the ball is forbidden, and each catch starts a three-second countdown to pass or shoot. Only two attacking positions may score, inside a semicircle facing a ring with no backboard. Rooted across the Commonwealth — Australia, New Zealand, England, Jamaica, South Africa — it is governed by World Netball and its more than 70 member nations.
目標
Score more goals than the opponent by shooting the ball down through the opposing ring, while denying the other team clear shooting chances. Because only the Goal Shooter and Goal Attack may shoot, every goal is built through quick, accurate passing that works the ball into the goal circle.
核心規則
- •Seven players per team, each wearing position initials and confined to that position's court areas; a team needs at least five on court, including a Centre.
- •No dribbling and no running with the ball: the ball moves only by passing between teammates.
- •Release the ball within three seconds of catching it, whether passing or shooting.
- •Only the Goal Shooter (GS) and Goal Attack (GA) may shoot, and only from inside the goal circle, its line included.
- •Footwork: pivot on your landing foot and step with the other, but release the ball before regrounding a lifted landing foot.
- •To contest a player with the ball, a defender must stand at least 0.9 m away, measured on the ground from the holder's landing foot.
- •Contact is penalised only when it interferes with play — knocking the ball loose, spoiling a pass or shot, moving an opponent unfairly; incidental contact is play on.
- •Every pass must leave room for an opponent to intercept between thrower and receiver — no hand-offs — and no pass may cross a complete third without being touched.
- •Each quarter and every goal restart begins with a centre pass, taken by the two Centres in turn; no other player may enter the centre third before the whistle.
- •If the ball goes out of court, the team that did not touch it last restarts with a throw-in.
計分
Every goal is worth one point, however far the shot travels. Only the Goal Shooter and Goal Attack may score, and only when the shot is taken entirely from inside the goal circle, its line included. The shooter has three seconds, must respect the footwork rule and may not touch the ground outside the circle during the shot. With no backboard behind the 380 mm ring, the ball has to enter from above and drop all the way through; a shot deflected by a defender that still drops in counts. Defenders may not shake the goalpost or touch the ball once it is dropping towards the ring. In the official Fast5 variant, shots are worth one, two or three points depending on where the shooter stands, and all goals are doubled during the final 90 seconds of each quarter.
賽制與時長
An international match runs four quarters of 15 minutes of playing time, with teams changing ends every quarter. Intervals last 4 minutes after the first and third quarters, and half-time lasts 12 minutes (8 by agreement between organiser and teams). Rule 21 of the 2024 edition expressly allows other levels to adapt these timings, so school and community matches are often shorter. World Netball also codifies Fast5, a television-friendly short format: five players a side, four 6-minute quarters, rolling substitutions, multi-point shooting zones, and a centre pass that goes to the team that just conceded instead of alternating.
勝負條件
The team with more goals after four quarters wins. When a competition requires a winner and scores are level, extra time follows a 4-minute break: two halves of up to 7 minutes with a one-minute turnaround. If the tie persists, play simply continues until one team leads by two goals. In Fast5 the tie-breaker is one extra minute, then a golden goal.
