Resumen
Table tennis, or ping-pong, is a racket sport played by two players (singles) or two pairs (doubles) on opposite sides of a table divided by a net. Players hit a lightweight ball back and forth with small rubber-covered paddles, trying to make it bounce in the opponent's half. It is an Olympic sport known for its speed and spin.
Objetivo
Score more points than your opponent by preventing them from legally returning the ball into your half. You win the point whenever your opponent fails to make a good return.
Reglas clave
- •On the serve, the ball is tossed up by hand, vertically at least 16 cm, then struck so it bounces first on your own side, then on the opponent's side.
- •During a rally, the ball may bounce only once on your side before you must return it over the net.
- •You lose the point if the ball goes out, hits the net on a return (not the serve), bounces twice on your side, or is not returned.
- •Service changes every 2 points; at 10-10 (deuce) it changes after every point.
- •A game is played to 11 points, won by a 2-point margin.
- •In table tennis you can score regardless of who served (every rally awards a point).
