How Netball scoring works

Each goal is worth one point. Only the Goal Shooter and Goal Attack may shoot, and only from inside the goal circle. The ball must pass through the ring and fully clear the net for the goal to count.

Match format

A match is played in four 15-minute quarters, with 3-minute intervals (between Q1-Q2 and Q3-Q4) and a 5-minute half-time break. Some competitions or recreational formats may adjust the length of the periods.

How to win

The team with the most goals at the end of the four quarters wins. If scores are level, some competitions play extra time according to their own regulations.

Recommended Score Zen setup

In Score Zen, set up netball in simple-points mode: tap +1 per goal, with 4 timed periods of 15 min. The Casual preset shortens the period length, and you can set the number and length of periods manually. There is no target score: end the match when time runs out and the leading team wins.
