How Esports scoring works
Internal scoring depends on the game (kills, rounds, towers destroyed, points). At the match level, you count the games (maps) each side wins. In BO3, the first to 2 games wins; in BO5, the first to 3. The series score is written, for example, 2-1 or 3-0.
Match format
The format varies by tournament: BO1, BO3 or BO5. BO3 is common in group stages and playoffs; BO5 is reserved for finals and grand finals. The length of a single game depends entirely on the title (from a few minutes to over 45 minutes).
How to win
A match is won by reaching the number of games required by the format before the opponent (2 in BO3, 3 in BO5). In BO1, a single game decides the winner.
Recommended Score Zen setup
Score an esport match by games: tap +1 for each game a team wins (e.g. score 2-1). Score Zen has no automatic BO3/BO5 format and no automatic finish: end the match when a team reaches the required number of games. For an automatic stop at a target, create a "Custom sport" with a target score (e.g. 2 or 3 games).
