How Squash scoring works

Under the PAR system, the winner of each rally scores 1 point, whether they served or not. A game is won by the first player to 11 points; at 10-10, play continues until one player leads by 2. The match score is counted in games won.

Match format

A match is most often best of 5 games (first to 3 games won). Some competitions or recreational formats use best of 3 games. There is no fixed duration: length depends on the rallies.

How to win

The player who wins the required number of games (3 in best-of-5, 2 in best-of-3) wins the match. Each game is won at 11 points with a 2-point margin.

Recommended Score Zen setup

Set up squash with ascending point scoring, 'Official' preset at 11 points per game with a 2-point margin, or a 'Recreational' preset for your own rules. Set the number of games (best-of-5 or best-of-3) and service alternation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep squash score on my phone without missing the fast rallies?

Yes. Score Zen is one tap per point, so between rallies you flick the score up in a second and get straight back to watching. There's no account to open, and anyone you send the QR code or link to follows every point live.
