How Beach Volleyball scoring works
A point is scored on every rally: the team that wins the rally scores, whether or not it served. If the receiving team wins the rally, it scores and gains the right to serve. The serving player alternates between the two partners each time the team regains the serve.
Match format
Match is best of 3 sets. Sets 1 and 2 are played to 21 points (with a 2-point lead); the deciding 3rd set is played to 15 points (with a 2-point lead). Each team gets one 30-second timeout per set.
How to win
The match is won by the first team to win 2 sets. A set is won with at least a 2-point lead.
Recommended Score Zen setup
In Score Zen, choose a set-based scoring mode ("first to X points, win by 2"). Official preset: 3 sets, 21/21/15 points; Casual preset: 1 set to 15 or 21 as players prefer. Set the points target per set and the number of winning sets to 2.
