摘要

Pétanque is a boules game that originated in Provence and is played on most stabilized gravel surfaces. Players throw metal balls to land them as close as possible to a small wooden target ball called the jack (cochonnet). It can be played as singles, doubles, or triples.

目標

Place your boules closer to the jack than the opposing team's, throwing with both feet together inside a circle. The team that reaches the required points total first wins the game.

核心規則

  • The jack is thrown 6 m minimum and 10 m maximum from the circle (seniors category).
  • Throw your boules keeping both feet on the ground and entirely inside the circle.
  • The team that does not hold the boule closest to the jack throws next, until it regains the advantage or runs out of boules.
  • You can 'point' (place a boule close) or 'shoot' (knock away an opponent's boule).
  • Depending on the format: 3 boules per player in singles and doubles, 2 boules per player in triples.
  • At the end of an end, only the team with the closest boule(s) scores points.

計分

At the end of each end, the closest boules to the jack are compared. The team with the closest boule scores 1 point for each boule placed better than the opponent's best boule. Only one team scores per end (from 1 to 6 points depending on the format). Points accumulate until the winning score is reached.

賽制與時長

Pétanque is not timed but played in successive ends. A game is usually played to 13 points; some competitions (qualifying rounds, pools) are played to 11 points. The number of ends is not fixed: play continues until one team reaches the required total.

勝負條件

The first team to reach the agreed points total (13 points, or 11 depending on the competition stage) wins the game.

Frequently asked questions

How does scoring work in pétanque?

At the end of each end, the closest boules to the jack are compared. The team with the closest boule scores 1 point for each boule placed better than the opponent's best boule. Only one team scores per end (from 1 to 6 points depending on the format). Points accumulate until the winning score is reached.

How long does a pétanque match last?

Pétanque is not timed but played in successive ends. A game is usually played to 13 points; some competitions (qualifying rounds, pools) are played to 11 points. The number of ends is not fixed: play continues until one team reaches the required total.

How do you win a match in pétanque?

The first team to reach the agreed points total (13 points, or 11 depending on the competition stage) wins the game.

What are the main fouls and sanctions in pétanque?

Foot fault: lifting or moving a foot out of the circle before the boule touches the ground. Exceeding the allotted time to play (warning/card depending on the regulation). Boule or jack displaced during measuring: the offending side may lose the point. Boule thrown out of turn or by an unauthorized player: boule annulled or penalty. Unsporting behaviour: warning, then graduated sanctions (yellow, orange, red cards). Jack sent out of the permitted limits: the jack is 'dead' and the end is replayed or annulled as applicable.

How do I set up ScoreZen to keep score in pétanque?

Set up pétanque in cumulative-points scoring mode: tap +1, +2 or +3 for the number of scoring boules. There is no timer. The game does not stop on its own: end it yourself when a team reaches 13 points (or 11 in qualifying). For an automatic finish at the target, create a "Custom sport" with a target score (e.g. 13).

Can I run a pétanque tournament or league with ScoreZen?

Compatible with a tournament or championship format: ScoreZen tracks points per end and the winning target, which suits pools and final stages played to 11 or 13 points.
